Steamboat Springs History

Steamboat began as the perfect summer spot for the Ute Indians to take advantage of the water, mineral springs, mild weather, and the perfect area for hunting and fishing. The original settlers developed a community of ranchers and miners, Steamboat remains a community based on its western heritage and ranching economy.

We now get to enjoy the great climate and four seasons throughout the year, the ranching and family friendly community, and the outdoor activities for everyone to experience. Steamboat Springs is famous for its Champagne Powder skiing and year-round resort activities. The Yampa Valley offers a wide variety of things to do, in all seasons and for all ages, making Steamboat Springs a year-round vacation destination.
