Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation has announced a proposed expansion, including a new gondola and a new Snowsports School area. With the expansion, Steamboat Springs would become Colorado’s 2nd largest ski resort. In addition to the previously announced project to expand terrain, the ski area revealed plans to build what would be the longest eight-person gondola in North America, beginning at the base of the mountain and ending at the top of Sunshine Peak. It would also have a mid-station, allowing for access to a proposed new Snowsports School area near the current Bashor Bowl area. Plans also include a new restaurant at the top of Sundown & Sunshine Express lifts and additional terrain expansion into the Pioneer Ridge and Fish Creek Canyon areas.
